You’re a student. But maybe that’s not enough for you? You want to use, test and expand your knowledge. And you want to do it in a practical way. How wonderful, that’s just what our working students do! And last but not least, you can also start building your professional network while you’re still a student.

As a working student, you will find that we will challenge and encourage you. You will be a real member of our team, entrusted with valuable tasks and get to know an international group up close.

Your benefits

    € 16.67 gross per hour, up to 20 hours per week.

    We work closely with Scania (Sweden), Navistar (USA) and VW Truck & Bus (Brazil) within the TRATON Group.

Apply for an advertised job

When you have found a job that you would like to apply for, you can apply through our job portal . We will need the following from you:

- Your CV

- Your current certificate of enrolment

- A little information about you

You can also choose to upload references and certificates that emphasise that you can demonstrate the desired experience and skills.

Interview

Has your application knocked our socks off? Then we’ll invite you for an interview!

When? Within two weeks of your application.

Who? The interview is usually with the relevant hiring manager.

How? We generally use Microsoft Teams.

What does it cover?

- Are you a good fit for our team in terms of personality?

We want to get to know you better and give you the chance to get to know us too.

- Are you right for the job?

We want to learn more about your skills and abilities.

- What makes you tick? We want to know why you are applying for this specific job and what your aims are. Then we know the best way to support you in achieving them.

- What about the conditions? Tell us how many hours and which days you would like to work.

How long does it take? Approx. 1 hour.

Employment contract and onboarding

Congratulations! You convinced us! Did we convince you too? If so, sign and return the employment contract we sent you.

We will then invite you to our Welcome Day. We very much look forward to you becoming a member of our pride of Lions!

Thesis – write your final dissertation here with us! Talk to your line manager about this when you arrive, visit our talent management team or ask the relevant departments directly whether they are interested in supervising your topic!

Work placement – you can also complete a work placement with us afterwards. This depends on your individual case and the legal framework.

Up to 2 years. We generally start off with a contract of 6 months to 1 year, which can be extended up to 3 times. The deciding factor will be the needs of the department in which you are employed.

We have a variety of specific working time models for each location. You can choose the right model for you with your line manager. You may work a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Work based on trust is our standard. You can organise your working hours yourself on your specified working days, but you must document them.

Our working students have a statutory holiday entitlement of 20 days based on a 5-day working week. To ensure that each and every individual gets an adequate break, we calculate your holiday entitlement on a pro rata basis according to the individual working hours agreed in your contract.

Yes. Every new employee starts with our Welcome Day on their first day at work. You will receive an invitation to this in due course. In the first half of the day, you will be given key information about the company, our corporate culture and our products. You will also have the opportunity to take a tour of the factory and sign up for a test drive of one of our trucks or buses on our test track. We aim to ensure that our working students are best prepared from the outset and feel like an important part of our team.

Absolutely! We are proud to offer our working students valuable experience and in-depth knowledge that will help them on their future career path. At the end of your working student placement, we will be happy to provide you with a reference confirming your performance and skills during your time with us.

Students attending a part-time university (such as FOM) are not legally recognised as working students and are therefore fully liable to pay social security contributions, so we are unable to employ them as working students.
