The V8-1300 is compact and, with 1,300 HP (956kW), the most powerful 16-litre V8 engine on the market.
The most powerful V8 engine for yachts and sport fishing boats on the market to date, with 1,300 HP (956 kW) from 16 litres of displacement, is the MAN V8-1300. This extremely high power density of 59 kW per litre displacement creates a clear advantage in ship design over comparably powerful engines with larger displacement and more cylinders due to the low space requirement and low weight. The V8-1300 offers the same compact installation dimensions of 1,736 x 1,153 x 1,222 mm (length x width x height) as its smaller brother with 1,200 HP (882 kW) – with another 100 HP (74 kW) extra power. Its dry weight of 1,880 kg has remained the same, which is reflected in another significantly lower power-to-weight ratio of 1.96 kg/kW for the V8-1300. The MAN V8-1300 thus sets a new benchmark for power and compactness in V8 yacht engines.
An improved injection system and new turbochargers contribute to increased power design. In addition, there are newly developed cylinder heads and an adapted cooling system. This results in a significant thermal relief of the engine with its high performance. A new crankcase, reinforced at significant points, also ensures the presentation of high performance over the long life of the engine. Smooth running and low fuel consumption: That’s what MAN Engines stands for. This philosophy has again been consistently implemented in the V8-1300 by means of its highly efficient combustion.
With the MAN V8-1300 as the most powerful V8 engine on the market, top motorisation demands can be configured in many applications and customer requests for higher performance can be specifically met. The MAN V8-1300 is fulfilling the currently valid emission requirements US EPA Tier 3, IMO Tier II as well as EU Stage IIIA and can therefore be operated in all common and popular areas.
