Safety comes first
MAN SafeStop Assist detects when the bus driver is no longer able to actively steer and, if this is the case, can decelerate the bus in a controlled manner until it reaches a standstill. ¹
Collaboration between various assistance systems
MAN SafeStop Assist uses the MAN ACC Stop & Go Adaptive Cruise Control for controlled braking of the vehicle, and a MAN lane guidance system.
Providing first aid is easier
The system switches on the interior lighting, providing first responders with easier access and a better overview. ¹ This allows for improved first aid for drivers and passengers.

Automatic braking for increased safety in traffic

MAN SafeStop Assist stops the bus if the driver is suddenly no longer able to control the vehicle due to unforeseen incidents such as medical emergencies. This prevents accidents by slowing down the vehicle in a controlled manner.

Powerful sensors
Cameras and radars are used to detect driving behaviour and the merged data is analysed intelligently to determine the driver’s activity
Integrated assistance systems
The MAN SafeStop Assist combines the capabilities of the MAN ACC Stop & Go Adaptive Cruise Control with additional safety functions, such as Lane Return Assist (LRA) and Traffic Jam Assist (TJA).

Warning level 1

The system detects that the driver is not reacting. It alerts them that they need to resume control via a warning symbol and text notification on the display and vibration of the steering wheel.

Warning level 2

If the driver still does not react, the system adds haptic and visual warnings and a warning tone and performs partial braking with increasing intensity.

Warning level 3

The driver is still not reacting. The system assumes that there is an emergency, brakes until the bus comes to a standstill, activates the hazard warning system, switches to transmission mode ‘N’, applies the electronic parking brake and activates the interior lighting.

By the way: The driver can resume control at any stage of the process by performing a kick-down.
