Automation

The future is automated

Autonomous trucks on motorways, fully automated container handling facilities at ports and driverless city buses: automated driving offers great potential in terms of efficiency and safety, particularly in the transport industry. MAN is involved in a number of pilot projects. They are paving the way for fully autonomous trucks and buses.

Our projects

  • Autonomous trucks on the motorway
The ATLAS-L4 research and development project has been demonstrating since 2022 that the use of level 4 automated and therefore driverless vehicles on the motorway is feasible.
  • Autonomous trucks in container logistics
The ANITA project has shown how self-driving trucks with the right integration into the infrastructure can make combined road and rail freight transport more efficient, predictable and flexible in the future.
  • Automated passenger transport
As part of the MINGA research project, an electric bus with automation is being tested in real-life operation: The pilot operation of this first automated city bus from MAN, accompanied by a safety driver, is planned from 2025.

MAN is already equipped for the mobility of the future and will be able to offer precisely the services that the market demands as soon as the technology is ready for series production.
